I just got done with my homework and i'm already sick of school. I remember why I sluffed do much in highschhol; it was hard for me and i didn't want to do the work. I am really glad that i am finally in school but feeling frustrated and don't want to register for next semester. To anyone who went to colleg, How did you keep going? Did you want to Quit? It hurts my head to have to think that hard. I'm just venting but if you have any tips that helped you stay focused I would appreciate it!!

Hey! Hope things are going well. I totally understand how you feel about school. If you're like me, you probably always want to get home from school as soon as possible and spend as little time and put in as little effort as possible. Maybe I can offer a couple of suggestions. College is all about getting to know your professors. You have to get to know them to find out what they're looking for, don't waste any time or energy unless you're confident it's exactly what they're looking for. Another good idea is to talk to people in your classes and find some good study buddies. You need to be selective and make sure that you're not hanging out with someone who's going to distract you or goof off (if you have any women in your classes that are going back to school after having kids they are the best. They take thier education very seriously and have a great perspective on things, and you can most likely compliment each other)
Best of luck to you. Are you studying something you enjoy or are you just getting through GE's? If you're just getting through GE's then it will get better when you are actually studying something you enjoy.

I love your blog so far! :) Motivation is really hard to find when you are in school - especially when it is a hard subject and you aren't doing very well. You are taking a math class, right? Try to stay on campus and go to the math tutor place (downstairs from the testing center room, same building) to do your homework. Go right after class - right after you learned the material - that way you are practicing what you just barely learned and it will go into your memory better.
When you are doing homework or studying, try snacking on carrots or something crunchy that keeps you alert. Also, try not to study in sessions longer than 1 hour - think of it like working out. Your brain gets fatigued after an hour and you are 1/2 as productive the 2nd hour you study in a row.
Those are just things that seem to help me. I hope something is useful for you!

Hey, I didn't even know you were in school!

All of these suggestions (above) are great advice. I also found that I was more motivated to study if I had some little thing to look forward to while doing it -- like some kind of great snack! Even something like popcorn.

It totally helps to talk to other people about what your studying or working on. It puts it into a more real-life perspective and is not so boring.

Good job!

It is a learning process and a discipline well worth the effort. What you learn from studying and organizing and being accountable is priceless. Keep it up, you can do it. Mom

Hey Maryann, I miss those days and I am so glad they are over and am so happy I was able to finish. I am sure there are many who agree with the fact that it's not what you even learn in the classes that is important but even more just the learning process and discipline that you learn from studying and learning what it takes for each different class and professor. One of the best parts of school is getting the finals over. There is something about that feeling that makes it all worth it. Keep it up!
